Dec. 11-13, 2018: C'Nano 2018 Conference

Conference season finishes in Toulon with #CNano2018, the national conference of the interdisciplinary network. I am presenting most recent results on metal phosphide nanoparticles.

Nov. 21, 2018: SF2M Award in Strasbourg

The French Society of Metallurgy and Materials Sciences (SF2M) is awarding me this year the "Jean Rist Medal", an encouragement and recognition to young scientists for the beginning of their careers. Very proud and thankful to friends and colleagues of LCMCP!

Nov. 19, 2018: Evening at la Maison des Océans

Paris section of CNRS organized a nice event at la Maison des Océans to award bronze, silver and crystal medals to its crew. I was one of the Bronze medal awardees.

This week, we are at SOLEIL to study molybdenum-containing nanoparticles for electrochemical reactions. But first, pellets preparation to check the structure of the nanoparticles! Thanks to Andrea Zitolo for hosting us on the beamline.

Oct. 30, 2018: Seminar at ICMCB

Today I was invited by Dr. Glenna Drisko to give a seminar on the latest results of the team at ICMCB, close to Bordeaux.

Oct. 15-18, 2018: In situ TEM in Strasbourg

Oct. 12-14, 2018: Fête de la Science

The National Science Fair was held at Sorbonne Université and Collège de France over several days, hosting teachers, students and family. LCMCP PhD students presented several stands, on sol-gel, colors, energy harvesting, etc. Kim was one of the main organisers for LCMCP. #FDS2018

Sept. 25, 2018: PhD Defense of Clément Larquet

Today, Clément defended his PhD on metal oxysulfide nanoparticles. He was awarded the title of Doctor of Sorbonne Université, and unanimously congratulated by the jury for the quality of his work and the scientific discussion. Well done!

Sept. 17, 2018: SCF18 conference recap in L'Actualité Chimique

As a member of the French Young Chemists Network, I was involved in organizing part of the SCF18 conference.

We published an article about the conference in l'Actualité Chimique, with pictures and interviews of participants. Read about it.

Sept. 4, 2018: Paper accepted

Our study on ligand-covered nanoparticles was accepted in Catalysis Science & Technology. A very nice ending to a great (and tough) project, in collaboration with Ferenc Borondics team at SMIS beamline (SOLEIL). Read the paper.

August 30, 2018: European Young Chemist Award for Clément

Clément was awarded the European Young Chemist Award-Silver Medal in the PhD Student category, at the EuChemS 2018 conference.

August 27-30, 2018: EuChemS Conference in Liverpool

This week we are in Liverpool for the largest European conference in Chemistry.

We have a fairly busy programme with 9 scheduled talks, including 5 scientific talks, 2 talks for the "European Young Chemist Award" session and one in the "Future leader in Chemistry" session.

July 31, 2018: Paper online

In collaboration with Cecile S. Bonifacio and Judith C. Yang from Pittsburg University, we studied nickel-cobalt nanoparticles exposed to reactive gases.

Combination of an ensemble technique (NAP-XPS) and a local one (environmental TEM) was pivotal for describing the nanoparticles transformations.

July 20, 2018: Travel grant for Minh

July 19-23, 2018: Beamtime on LUCIA

This week(end), we are studying metal oxysulfide nanoparticles at LUCIA beamline in the framework of ANR OxySUN project.

We will attempt some in situ electrocatalysis experiments... big challenge but the team is ready!

July 2-4, 2018: SCF18 Conference, congrats to Florian!

Florian presented his results on iron phosphide nanoparticles, and received a "best oral communication" award! Kim talked about metal oxysulfide nanoparticles in the catalysis session. Nadège showed how to synthesis and assemble silicon-based materials. I discussed phase control for metal phosphides in the materials chemistry session, and was involved with RJ-SCF on the young chemists symposium as well as on the round-table about chemistry&society.

June 18-23, 2018: NAP-XPS in Prague

Thanks to Ceric-Eric european consortium, we were invited to run NAP-XPS experiments on metal phosphide nanoparticles, in the lab instrument available in Prague.

So far, so good, with nice results already coming in! Many thanks to Brett and Misha for their expertise and help.

Thanks to our collaborator Benedikt Lassalle, Kim did an impromptu visit at SAMBA beamline and measured Mo K-edge of nanoparticles.

Clément was awarded a Travel Grant from the national board of SCF to participate to the 7th EuCheMS conference, this summer in Liverpool.

Update: Clément was also selected as a finalist of the European Young Chemist Award!

I was invited to give a talk at the 14th International Ceramic Congress (CIMTEC) in Perugia, Italy. I presented the latest work of the team on metal oxysulfides, metal carbides and metal phosphides, using in particular synchrotron light as a investigation asset.

Following my previous paper on the design of nanoparticles, I just published a discussion on proper concepts and tools to describe inorganic nanoparticles in the context of surface reactivity and catalysis.

May 24 and 31, 2018: Lab Seminars

A week apart, Xavier and Minh both presented their work to the whole lab during the traditional "lab seminar". Xavier talked about ligand-stabilized copper nanoparticles while Minh discussed a safe-by-design approach for emerging nanomaterials. What an intense month!

May 23, 2018: Fight the Fake News!

May 15, 2018: Seminar in Montpellier

I was invited by our collaborators in Montpellier to give a seminar at the Institute Charles Gerhardt. I presented the latest work of the team on metal oxysulfides, metal carbides and metal phosphides, using in particular synchrotron light as a investigation asset.

March 2, 2018: Designing Nanoalloys

My Personal Account about the design of nanoalloys with controlled surface and reactivity is now online.

It reviews works from the last 7 years and discusses both synthesis and in situ monitoring of the nanoalloys under reactive conditions.

Titled "Chimie et Nano : Une question d’échelle !", this article deals with nanosciences and nanomaterials. It was written for students and teachers who would like to know more about nanochemistry, and is hosted @CultureSciences-Chimie, the plateform for resources in education.
